Up Close & Personal Salon: The Westerlies

Meet the Westerlies

In this intimate salon in a beautiful Noe Valley home, the Westerlies take us through an autobiographical program that traces their roots and influences as an ensemble. They’ll bring us inside their process of creating new repertoire for brass quartet—both original works and adaptations. They’ll share their musical influences, from vocal music traditions (gospel, shape-note, songs of Charles Ives) to jazz (Ellington, Bix Beiderbecke) to contemporary classical composers and leave us with a sneak peek of what’s coming next in their evolution as an ensemble.
