The 2018-2019 NVCM season opens with Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, whom San Francisco Classical Voice calls “the most dynamic duo of this generation”. Next up is Decoda, the affiliate ensemble of Carnegie Hall, who will bring a program of chamber music for woodwinds, strings and soprano featuring Prokofiev’s witty and evocative Quintet, Op. 39 (1924). The world-renowned St. Lawrence String Quartet, in their only SF performance of the season, will present Osvaldo Golijov’s Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind with clarinetist Todd Palmer. And finally, local favorites Tom Stone, Tanya Tomkins and Eric Zivian join forces with Artistic Directors Bhasin and Dalby for a program including Schumann’s ebullient Piano Quintet, using fine instruments from the golden age of violin-making by Stradivari, Bergonzi, and Amati.
